About Us
Palace Cats is located in Fort Myers, Florida near Naples. Our kittens are raised in a family environment. Tim and I (Lanie) have two sons who are 8 and (almost) 10 years old. They have a big part in helping with the cats and kittens. Tristan our older boy has become a steward at the cat shows. He throughly enjoys traveling with his dad to the many shows. I think we have a future Judge on our hands :) He has an interest in the regular care and feeding and takes the responsibility on for "his" cats. Tristan will be showing his cream lynx mitted boy Palacecats Fire N Ice this season in the Junior Exhibitor ring!
We own a successful flooring company and our cats are pure enjoyment for us. Tim travels all over the country showing our Ragdolls. I am a stay at home mom and devote all my time to my cats and my boys.
We feed and raise our kittens differently than most breeders. Our kittens are born in our nursery (which is next to our master bedroom). The nursery has laminate flooring a big cat tree for moms to take a baby break, many many toys, scratching posts, a water fountain and of course litterboxes. They stay with mom there in their kitten box (we NEVER cage here at Palace Cats!) When the babies are 4 weeks old is when the fun begins :) They are moved into the living room in a baby playpen. They begin learning to use the litter box, scratch their nails on a cardboard scratching pad and eat solid food and drink water. By 6 weeks the babies have climbed out of the playpen and have free run of the house. The door to the nursery is kept open and the moms & babies can go in and out as they wish. We use World's Best Cat Litter with all our babies. It is a corn based litter which is non toxic to them if they eat it. (as babies normally do when they 1st start training) Clay clumping litter can clump in the babies intestines if ingested and kill them.
Health is our #1 priority here which is why we feed a species appropriate RAW diet. Our babies take to their raw diet instantly like the little carnivores they are! The raw diet helps your kitten to develop a strong immune system which is better than any vaccine can provide. We do not feel vaccines are the best thing for our cats and do NOT over vaccinate. Our kittens do receive 1-2 vaccines before they leave for home. If you wish to have a completely naturally reared unvaccinated kitten please let us know.
Palacecats Ragdoll kittens are socialized with LOTS of noise! (My boys only know 1 volume on the TV! Loud!), dogs, kids and every household noise imaginable (vacume, dishwasher, dryer, washing machine etc.) They are held constantly you can always find a few kittens in any open laps!
We also have 3 dogs that the kittens are socialized with. 2 Chihuahuas & a yellow Labrador Retriever. So the babies all meet large and small dogs!
At about 8 weeks the baby's come and sleep with us in our or the boys beds at night and would love to continue sleeping with you!
What does our noisy hands on household mean to your kitten? Well it makes for a baby who will NEVER hide, will greet you at the door, will seek out your lap to cuddle in and purrr their little hearts out in contentment! They are able to be taken out on a harness to stores etc they enjoy rides in the car! They will never be afraid to go to the vet. Our cats just flop on the table & purr when they see Dr. Rachedi! She ALWAYS has to take them to another room & run water to get them to stop purring so loud when she checks their heartbeat!! BUT sometimes that doesn't work because our cats do NOT mind Water!!!!! Dr Rachedi always gets a kick out of how awesomely calm are cats are :)
You can expect a beautiful, well socialized, healthy, totally affectionate companion when you choose a baby Ragdoll from Palace Cats.
